AT resource app for iOS.

August 6, 2011

This post is for all iOS developers, review sites and general iOS Assistive Technology experts. I would like to create an app that contains a list of all Assistive Technology resources for iOS. Please let me know if you would like your resource in this app. If you would not like your resource in this app please let me know. This app will be a free app on the iOS app store, and will allow blind and visually impaired users to gain resources to better use their iDevice.

PocketBraille Reference for iOS

April 7, 2011

I am excited to announce that I have started on the next app to promote Braille literacy on the iOS Operating System. PocketBraille Reference is an application that allows the user to see a listing of all symbols in the Braille code. A user will be able to select several different kinds of Braille symbols, such as the alphabet, numbers, or punctuation, and the program will show the user the symbols for that Braille type, plus the English equivalent, and the dots numbers that are in each symbol. For example, selecting the alphabet will give the user the following; The Braille letter a, English letter a and then the third column will say Dot 1.

I hope to be done with app in a few days, so keep checking back here for more, or check the App store in the next week or so. The app will be sold for $0.99 in all markets.

What Assistive technology features would you like to see in iOS 4.2?

September 25, 2010

I am sure everyone has heard of about the new VoiceOver features in iOS 4.1. Apple is going to release iOS 4.2 in November, and is having a developer beta as we speak. So now is our chance everyone. What features or aditions would you like to see added to VoiceOver or Zoom in the next release? If enough people coment and are interested, I will attempt to get Apple to consider these requests, so leave coments and discuss the possibilities!

I will start this off here.

I would like to see Apple enable Voice Command on the iPad. The feature is there, and if you have Jailbroken your iPad you can turn this feature on with a bit of work. Along with this, I would love to see the calculator and alarm clock be put on the iPad.

OK everyone your turn!
